Watch This Hermit Crab Switch From One Colorful Shell To Another. This Is Why Nature Is Awesome.

This is a Purple Clawed Hermit Crab, which are land crabs that typically come from the Caribbean. They can grow to become the size of a softball and live 30 years. The shells are from common sea slugs that have been painted with a natural vegetable based paint. The bodies of these crabs are rarely seen. They are always looking for a newer, bigger home and the selection process can take up to an hour after finding a new shell. These crabs will often fight each other to get the opponent’s shell.
